Jobs don’t really work anymore
You already know it.
It’s not your boss. Not the company either.
It’s that deal you made with yourself, a while back.
Voluntarily.
You said, yeah okay, this makes sense.
Safety, right?
For two days off a week.
And it did make sense…
for a bit. But now you hate your job.
Of course you do.
You’re under-leveraged.
Under-owned.
Over-managed.
You don’t hate your job. You hate needing it.
You hate that little knot in your stomach when you start thinking, like… what if i just quit?
Because you’ve been selling your freedom
on a monthly subscription
since your first paycheck.
That’s why I started theSockonomist.
Because if I ever have to tell my kids
why i spent half my life in meetings no one remembers
I can’t say, well, everyone else did it.
Nah. There has to be a better reason than that.
So yeah, here we are.
Grown adults asking if we can take a week off.
Like… seriously?
My job is to pull you out of that loop.
You’ll fight it, of course.
Everyone does.
Then you’ll thank me.
Maybe. Or you won’t.
Either way, you’ll be out.
And no.
Sure as hell I won’t be the guy yelling “believe in yourself”.
This isn’t mindset porn.
It’s about money.
And work, of course.
Or whatever kind of freedom you keep trying to buy back.
Just without the fantasy of running away from the system.
Escape is for cowards.
The real game?
Learning how to use the system.
While quietly building your way out of it.
Because one day, that system won’t give a damn about you. At all.
And just so we’re clear.
Freedom is a damn skillset, not a mood.
If you don’t have it.
Don’t worry.
Most people never will.
But you could.
There are only three skills that actually make you free.
Only three.
Earn.
Without obeying.
Grow.
Without bleeding.
Keep.
Without asking.
Because if someone else decides how much you make or how much you keep, you’re not free.
And chances are, you never will be.
Unless you change that.
That’s the kind of truth people can’t handle.
The kind that lets you look someone in the eye.
And it’s just NO.
Not “maybe later”.
Not “I’ll check with my partner”.
Just NO.
And still sleep like a baby after.
That’s grown-up freedom.
Learn that.
Or you’ll spend your life polishing someone else’s boots
even if they call you “manager” while you do it.
NEWSLETTER
I’m no fortune-teller or anything,
but if you’re still here, something’s probably hitting a nerve.
You’ve been reading what, three minutes? Maybe less.
And you’re already thinking about what it’d feel like to actually own your time.
I could say I’ve got a newsletter.
Free.
Worth it.
Go subscribe.
But that’d be an insult to both of us.
First, because no newsletter’s got all the answers.
Second, because you’ve already paid me, with your time
and the least I can do is make that worth something.
I’ve put together a free doc.
15 pages.
5 levers any bored employee already has to buy back his freedom.
Without quitting their job or selling bullshit courses online.
It’s free.
If you want it
drop your email.
I’ll send it over. Simple as that.
And if you’re thinking
“yeah, but I’ve got kids, a mortgage, real stuff…”
Perfect.
Then don’t.
Keep the system running.
Someone’s gotta do it.
Just don’t call it freedom.
Because you can’t talk about freedom if you don’t have leverage.
Call it what it is.
Functionality.
And that’s a lot closer to a machine than to a man.
That’s fine. I was there too.
You can close this page.
Or start building the kind of life you could walk away from tomorrow
and not lose a damn thing.
One decision.
Nothing to beg for.
That’s all it takes.
One you could make today.
Or six months from now, you’ll be reading another page just like this one.
That’s on you.
Always.
Your life. Your mess. Your move.
Or stay there.
Dancing for coins.
Telling yourself it’s work.
